PAYMENTS & DEPOSIT

TOP OF PAGE

Q. What do you charge for your service?
A. Go to our payments page for all payment details or use our online forms to submit a request for a quote or to make a booking.

Q. Do you require a deposit in advance?
A. Yes.  To secure your booking a minimum deposit is required.   To check current minimums for deposits and other payment details and/or options go to our  payments page

Q. How much is the deposit?

TOP OF PAGE

A. $50.00 will secure your booking and we recommend you pay ASAP...preferably when you make the booking.  We will hold your booking for up to 3 days without a deposit but if you do not pay the deposit then we cannot guarantee to hold your booking for the allocated time.  If we receive an enquiry and commitment to book with a deposit by someone else in your time slot, then the preference will go with the person paying the deposit as it shows that they are serious about the booking.

Q. Will the deposit be refunded if I cancel my booking?
A. To avoid paying the cancellation fee which is $50 per painter per day booked you must inform us of your intention to cancel at least  96 hours (4 days) before the date of your booking.  This means that you have confirmed it with a real person and not just sent an email or left a message hoping we'll get it.  You are welcome to email and/or leave messages but if we do not get back to you then we did not receive your communication so it is up to you to follow it up.

Any cancellations made with less than 96 hours notice will result in the deposit amount being retained to cover any expense that may have gone into preparing for the event, including loss of potential work due to the time slot being occupied by your booking.  If your booking is for more than one day and more than one painter then you will be billed for the additional amount.

Be sure to cancel immediately as we will not negotiate on this matter.

Q. How far will you travel for a booking?
A. We are happy to travel to the ends of the earth if it's worth our while.  The basic rates charged are for all bookings where the event will be located within 25km radius of Essendon Airport.  For all events that occur outside of that area there will be additional fees.  See our payments page for details.

TOP OF PAGE

A. You can do it entirely via the web-site.   Fill out the Booking Form and click to submit.  You will receive a call from us (or email if preferred) within 24 - 48 hours depending on whether it's a weekend or not.  We will confirm details with you when we call.  You can pay a deposit if you like  via any of the payment methods offered including credit card online only.  You can also phone to make a booking.  Go to our contact details page for the number.

Q. Will the deposit be refunded if I cancel my booking?
click here for the answer to this question.

Q. Do you charge extra for travel?

TOP OF PAGE

A. For bookings located within our local area (check the payments page for current free zone) we do not charge anything extra.  For distances outside our local area there are additional costs to help pay for petrol expenses and to compensate for time.  These fees are minimal yet necessary to make the booking worthwhile.   For a detailed fees plan have a look on the payments page.

If you would like to check to see how far you are from Cheeky Face Home base use our automatic routing map - Click here.

Q. Is there a minimum time period required for a booking?
A. Minimum booking times do apply.  Please check the payments page for details or click here.

Q. Is there a minimum face / person quantity required for a booking?
A. No.  As long as you are happy to pay for the minimum booking time we are happy to do even a single face and take our time to get a good result.

A. If I have booked you for a fixed time and change my mind on the day will that be o.k?
A. Well that depends on a few things.
Increasing booking times:
If  you want to change your booking to increase the time then its a matter of whether we have another booking to go to or not or any other previously arranged appointments.  If we agree you will be charged the extra amount according to our rates and payment will be required with the rest of your original invoice unless other arrangements are agreed upon.
decreasing booking times:
If you want to decrease the booking time then if you are happy to pay the full amount of the original booking it's o.k. with us.  The booking fee will not be reduced as there is preparation ahead of every booking we attend and time is taken into account.  Also the fact that we will most likely have refused bookings for the date & time of your booking means that we will have lost bookings that we could have had and that would in the case of reduced booking time need to be compensated for.

A. A. 24 553 976 445

Q. What is your background/history in relation to face painting?

TOP OF PAGE

A. For the complete version click here.
The brief version: The founders of 'Cheeky Face' (Danny & Lorene) have each studied art & graphic design in the past although regretfully  neither of us managed to obtain a degree nor a diploma.  Our intentions never were  to become face painters and it wasn't until September 2005  that we were offered the opportunity to do it.  We gave it a go and as they say 'the rest is history'.  We LOVE it!!  Our beginning was in September 2005 and from the very first day we knew this was going to be the rest of our lives.   All our painters have had some prior experience with painting or Art.  Visit each painters personal page for information about each painter.   Our painters page will always have a brief history of 'Cheeky Face' that will be updated when necessary.

Q. Do you have police check certificates?
A. Yes we do.  We will have these available for viewing on request.  To see a copy of our certificate please email and ask to be sent a copy or we can present a copy on the day.

SERVICE & PRODUCT RELATED QUERIES

Q. How many faces can be painted in one booking?
A. This is a common question but one with various answers.

We have recently added a tool to our website to help give you an idea of what might be suitable for your event.  Click here to see how many faces we can paint at your event!

To make it simple we tell people that we can provide a minimum number of full detailed faces in one hour with one painter.  to see what that minimum is please visit our payments page.

The number depends on how long you book for.  We are happy to limit faces to 5 or even 3 minutes in order to cut the booking time down for you.  That way you can be sure to have those extra couple of kids painted without having to pay for additional time.  Please keep in mind that 5 & 3 minute faces will not be as elaborate or as detailed as some of the faces you will see in our gallery although we do not skimp on the quality and we will make every effort to be sure the work is of a high standard.  You should also consider this when other face painters tell you that they can provide large numbers per hour and always ask what the quality is like.

Q. What kind of paints do you use?
A.  First of all it will help to understand that the paints themselves are not actually paints but more like make up.
We use a combination of professional make-up from international suppliers.  These would include 'Wolfe Brothers' + 'Paradise' + ‘Kryolan’ and ‘Snazaroo - all of these make-ups  are considered by many face painters to be of the highest quality available.  The make-up contains non-toxic & hypo-allergenic properties and are FDA (USA) approved.  Snazaroo paints also carries a "child toy safety rating" and is one of the world’s safest face painting products.
Paints don’t chip or peel and will wash off easily with mild soap and warm water at the end of the day, or you can use a face cloth or wet wipes, but the paint should be removed before bed that day.

Do not be surprised if there is some staining - this is normal and will fade within a day or two.

Q. Are the paints that you use easy to remove?

TOP OF PAGE

A. Yes!  Wipes off easily with a cloth dampened in warm water and a little bit of soap if necessary.  The most effective removal has been achieved with face wipes like 'wet ones'.  You can also use make-up remover or sorboline cream if necessary but the above methods should be sufficient.  Some colours will stain more than others so you may need to repeat cleaning depending on how long you have been wearing the face paint and what the colour is.

Do not be surprised if there is some staining - this is normal and will fade within a day or two.

Q. Will the paints stain my clothing or bed sheets and pillow cases?
A. They may temporarily but should come off in a cold water wash.  Do not use warm or hot water.  To avoid staining bed sheets the face paint should be removed before bed.

Q. Does 'Cheeky Face' sell any other products?
A. Yes.  We sell a range of face painting products including paints, brushes, practice dummy heads, Giant bubble wands and more.  We plan to make these available on the website when we get  the chance but for now if you are interested please contact us for a product & price list.  You can also visit www.sillyfarm.com.au and order any of the products available there through us.  We may be able to save you a few dollars that way.

Visit www.littlelorandt.com.au for funky kids hats (broader range of apparel is expected in future).

Q. Do you supply all your own equipment?

TOP OF PAGE

A. Yes!  We have everything we need for the day.  If you can supply a table & chairs for us to work from (that you don't mind getting make up / paint on) it will save us some trouble...but no problem if you can't.

The only thing we do ask you to provide is protection from the elements...

Direct sunshine:
Sunshine can soften the make-up and make it difficult to work with.

Wind:
Wind will blow hair all over the place even if we use hair bands and this will slow the face painting down and possibly smudge paints if they do not dry quick enough.

Rain:
I think this one's pretty obvious but for those of you who don't know - Lorene and I are porous beings and we will absorb the water if it rains.  When we swell up as a result our arms are too short to reach the brushes and we can only paint the kids if we stand side ways.  This of course will not work for anyone I'm sure so please help by providing adequate protection.

Q. Do you provide clowns, magic or any other entertainment?
A. We are primarily face painters and prefer to focus on creating high quality faces.   Although we can offer balloon modeling as well as the face painting we are not actually clowns.

If you need other entertainers, we have met many on our travels and would be happy to put you in contact with them.

We do now offer balloon modelling and we can include this within your face painting booking or you have the option to add a small amount of extra time to your booking to allow for ballooning at the end of the face painting.  Balloons are quick and usually only needs half an hour to make enough balloon animals for about 15 - 30 children depending on what we have to make.

If a balloonist is required for longer periods we can arrange that too.  See also "What other services do you offer?"

Q. Do you offer Henna tattooing (Mendhi)?
A. Yes, we now offer Henna tattooing and we create a FREE gallery as we do with all our services. You can combine Henna with Face painting to please everyone at the party when there are kids and adults.  Teenagers will love the Henna (stains for about 2 - 3 weeks) and all ages will enjoy the light hearted fun with face painting - in particular the little ones.

Q. What other services do you offer?

TOP OF PAGE

A. Well you must have realized that we are face painters but to add to the variety we are looking into expanding our talents.  Currently we are offer the following:

  • Face Painting (we'll cater for any event and any theme if required.  Just call us to discuss what we can and can't do)
  • Henna Tattooing
  • Balloon Sculpting
  • Mural Art (We'll design a mural to your specifications.)

The first 3 in the above list can be combined in any manner and the rate charged will be the same.  We only charge for time not materials.  However if we are required to pre-make balloons for an event we charge per child.  check the payments page for these prices or give us a call.

Go to our payments page for all payment details or use our online forms to submit a request for a quote or to make a booking.

HEALTH & LIABILITY

Q. I have a skin condition...should I still have my face painted?
A. We are not doctor's so you will need to find out if face painting will have an effect on your condition for yourself.  You should probably ask your doctor to be sure.  'Cheeky face' will not be held responsible for any adverse reactions that are caused as a result of having your face painted by us.  Our paints are non-toxic and contain anti-bacterial properties.   Click here for more about the paints.

Q. I have a cold and a runny nose...should I still have my face painted?

Q. Is there any alternative available to having my face painted?
A. In the case of skin conditions like eczema  we can always paint around the affected areas.  Anyone with visible signs of cold/flu will not be able to have their face painted by us on that day (various reasons).   We can paint other parts of the body (legs, arms, back etc.) or any area that is not affected by the condition.  For children we will offer a stamp or sticker and even a fake tattoo.

Reasons why we can't paint on you if you have any of the health conditions stated above.

TOP OF PAGE

We prefer not to paint anyone with eczema or dermatitis because:
1. We are unsure of the reaction that your skin may have to the paints.   As far as we know there has been no incidents of skin flare up or anything serious as a result of the paints but cleaning the paints off may require the use of soaps or other products that may irritate sensitive skin.
2. If you are willing to take full responsibility for any reactions that may occur we will happily paint you.

We will not paint anyone with cold-sores because:
1. We work physically, very close to the people we paint and cold sores are highly contagious.  We cannot afford to get sick ourselves.
2. The likely hood of passing on the cold sores trigger to others we paint, is high.
3. Our brushes will need to be disinfected before we can use them on the next person and this may mean taking time away from a busy service, to do so.
